Letter to Judge William Condon of Suffolk County

THIS IS A LETTER I WILL BE MAILING TO THE JUDGE OF SUFFOLK COUNTY IN REGARDS TO A LOCAL DRUNK DRIVING INCIDENT.  READ ABOUT IT HERE:  http://lilfamily13.blogspot.com/2011/07/3-time-drunk-driver-to-get-off-with-no.html

PLEASE SEND YOUR OWN LETTERS TO:
Honorable William J. Condon
Supreme Court, Suffolk County
210 Center Drive
Riverhead, NY 11901

I'D LOVE YOUR FEEDBACK AND SUPPORT... LET'S SHOW HIM HOW STRONG OUR VOICES ARE.  LEAVE COMMENTS AND I WILL SEND THEM ALONG WITH MY LETTER.  PLEASE LEAVE YOUR REAL NAME AND ADDRESS.

Dear Judge William J. Condon,

I was a classmate of Lindsay Soyka's for kindergarten through twelfth grade, and I am a resident of East Hampton.  I have heard that in the accident involving Mrs Soyka and Charlotte Depersia, who was driving drunk at the time, you plan to sentence her to community service and probation, with a promise of no jail time.  As a citizen of Suffolk County, I have to say that I am extremely disappointed.

I am a mother of a 3 year old and a survivor of a car accident that almost left me paralyzed, and to think that this three time offender may be free to drink while intoxicated again and again in the future sickens me.  I don't want to drive on these streets with my daughter in the car, knowing that she walked virtually free and clear after the injuries she caused, and that the next time she crashes while drunk, it may be fatal... and it may be me.

Please penalize her to the full extent of the law.  Please show her and everyone else, that DUI is taken seriously here.  That our community IS a safe place to raise our children, and that a blatant disregard for others and for the law won't be tolerated.

We are counting on you to do the right thing and make sure this never happens again.

I have asked my community to send you letters with their own words,  but those unable to, will leave their words and contact info here and I will send it with my own letter.  Please hear the strong voices of our community and know that we take this very seriously.  Our lives are at stake.

Sincerely,

Dana Alison

I hope that our lawmakers and our punishers give this women the full punishment for her multiple actions over the years. What kind of example would this show your community, as well as the United States as a whole, if she walk away from this merely with probation and community service. She did not learn her lesson the first 2 times and she will not this time. The next time will be a fatal accident and it can be prevented with this woman in jail.

Please go to this site of a father whos daughter was killed in a drunk driving accident and the woman got off free of manslaughter AND fleeing to Mexico. This is not something you want to support, and by letting this person free you will be supporting her.

  2. This has got to stop. We live in a time where it has been made clear by the judicial system that who you are and the amount of money you have can help you get away with less punishment for a crime that most people have to pay a higher price for. This isn't a hush hush situation. Its everywhere. Its on the news. Its in the papers. Its in front of our faces and it seems that the judicial system and the people making the decision to let people like Charlotte Depersia merely do community service and probation instead of actually sit there in a jail cell and realize they need to be punished for their actions is not enough. She can actually kill someone. She works FOR the judicial system yet she seems to not care about what her actions can lead to. To expect such leniency on her part shows less care about others especially those who she has CLEARLY hurt and to allow her to not serve a jail sentence for who she is is very hurtful to those who live in Suffolk County or anywhere for that matter.

Please, don't make a mistake in your decision. Your job is to help the victims by making those who have hurt them pay the price. Its 2011 and in this day and age, community service and probation mean nothing especially to people like Charlotte Depersia. She along with others out there who believe like her that they can get away with anything because of who they are and what's in their wallet need to know that the law doesn't care about that and wants to do the right thing. Do the right thing and give this 3 time offender the maximum.

While I commend your efforts to give this woman another chance, she clearly has problems. It is likely that she is an alcoholic if alcohol takes priority over safety, license suspension, etc. Putting her in jail will make available to her services that she clearly desperately needs - before she kills herself or others. We are all very lucky that she didn't kill these four people and an unborn child.

  5. Driving beneath the influence (DUI) refers to operating a vehicle whereas tormented by alcohol, drugs, or each. This applies to each legal and illegal medicine, including prescription medication and over-the-counter medication. so the positioning is best for providing the right and correct information.

  6. Thank you for sharing. Certainly one of the most emotionally charged aspects of your divorce concerns your child or children. Tragically, children all too often get caught in the cross-fire of divorcing parents, when what should be ultimately important to everyone concerned is the welfare of the child.
